Ford began a metal solo career after the band split in 1979. Ford began to take voice classes shortly after releasing her debut album , 'Dancin' On the Edge'. Ford was absent from the scene for a few years following both albums failing to gain much popularity. Ford returned to the scene in the form of her smash record 'Lita' it was released in the year 1988. Both the track "Kiss My Deadly" and ballad "Close My Eyes forever" were huge hit songs. The problem was that she only was a brief star and disappeared from the scene for several years. In 1995 she released "Black," followed by 15 years later she released 'Wicked' Wonderland. Her latest album, Time Capsule was released in 2016. Guitar Player Magazine presented her with the prestigious Certified Guitar Legend Award.
